Synchronizing Outlook Live with a separate Exchange system

Hello,

At my school, students use Live@EDU, but faculty (for the most part) use a different Exchange server. The school runs the faculty Exchange server, but doesn't have much control over the Live@EDU Exchange backend. Is there a way to synchronize calendars and contacts between these two systems so that, for example, as a student I can see teachers' free/busy info?

how do i get it to highlight my emails/change the resolution of the color so i can see the fonts/emails?

when i set up my email for my school, it asked me to check a box if my computer has low resolution. I forget to check the box, and now i can't read the font in my emails/it doesn't highlight the messages when i click on them. is there any way to fix this?

How do I get Outlook to quit forwarding my mail to my yahoo account?

Hi - we have large number of students using Zmail from our campus - and many are reporting that when they send email, the message goes to the draft folder, and not the sent items. Appears the messages do not send.

Cannot send message from live@edu

I'm running mac os x, and have 2 email accounts setup on my mac mail program (one of them is my live@edu account). So far I have no problem receiving emails on both accounts. However, I started having a problem yesterday when I tried to send message from my live@edu account.

It keeps saying "cannot send message from server pod51000.outlook.com" and its also saying "The sender address username@mail.sunysuffolk.edu was rejected by the server pod51000.outlook.com."

I've been using this server as outgoing server from the beginning and I am still able to receive incoming emails.

Any help would be appreciated.

I just recived several e-mails with important attachments, unfortunatly all these attachments are attached to different e-mails. Is is possible to download all the attachments off all the e-mails in one big swoop?

Hi:

I am having a problem with creating rules in outlook live and was hoping for some help or suggestions. I currently have 1 domain with 2 groups (studentsall and staffall). I have also implemented a rule where "if message recieved from members of studentsall" and "if message sent to members of studentsall" it blocks all emails. What it also does is blocks emails from and to staffall which is what i dont want. I just want to be able to stop students from emailing each other.

have contacted MS and they say this is not possible. If thats the case what is the purpose or function of the "if message is sent to members of" rule?

any help would be appreciated.

Changing Text messaging Settings

About a month ago, I was expecting an inportant e-mail and was unable to check it at work so, I decided to change my settings so when I got an e-mail, I would get a txt message with a brief summary of the e-mail. After getting annoying text messages left and right, I tried changing my settings so I wouldn't recieve them and now my e-mails have an annoying tagline such as "The text message notification couldn't be delivered to these recipients or groups:" along with the format being all messed up.

I JUST WANT MY E-MAIL TO BE THE WAY IT USED TO BE!

Why don't the selected emails in my inbox get highlighted?

Hey... When I have an email selected in my inbox thee is no highlight for it. It looks the same as all the other 'read' emails & it's very confusing. Is there a way to change my view preferences to enable highlighting?

I'm using a Mac, OSX 10.4.11 & 10.6.3.

Bonjour,

Suite à l'installation de la solution Live@Edu nous sommes confrontés à un problème de gestion des indésirables.

En effet certains mails émis depuis nos boîtes live@edu via les clients Outlook 2010 ou bien Outlook Web App atterrissent directement dans les indésirables d'autres boîtes live@edu de notre organisation.

Le service n'est-il pas paramétré automatiquement pour considérés les mails émis depuis les boîtes de l'organisation comme valides (non indésirables) ?

Windows Live Mail sync with Outlook Live (Outlook Web App)

Can I use Windows Live Mail client to sync with the Outlook Web App calendar? No problem getting email but can't seem to sync with the calendar. Is this even possible with Live Mail client or does this require Outlook? Live mail will sync with live.calendar. Evidently, they are not the same.

Synchronization to MS Exchange Server with Outlook problem.

Hi. I hope somebody can please help me.

I'm a wore-out, beat-down, kicked-in-the-face medical student and I only have two more days and then I get to have a break. Just at this time, I lose my mojo.

My school is Marshall University and we use this live@edu service. I love it. I have a tablet, a killer desktop, and a smartphone all synced to the exchange server. If I add an appointment into my phone, when I get phone it is already there in full detail in Outlook. Very very cool. Same with contacts and I don't lose mail.

However, A couple of weeks ago I bought an Office 2010 download for cheap through Journeyed.com and Microsoft. As you all probably know, there is not a lot of support for 2010 yet.

But it is a 64 bit app, so I uninstalled Office 2007 Ultimate and installed Office 2010 Professional 64bit. I fired up Outlook. The wizard came up. I punched in my name, email address, and password for the exchange account and "whammo!" I was totally synchronized. All my contacts came flying in. All my appointments. It's such a good feeling when something works so well. I went ahead and installed it on my desktop as well.

Then the day before yesterday, I suddenly was not able to connect to the exchange server at all. No mail, no appointments, no people...nothing.

This is what I have tried doing so far:

1. I clicked on the account settings and clicked "repair." No love.

2. I opened the account settings and wrote down every server name and encryption type and all I could find.

3. I wiped the account from my notebook so that there were no accounts associated with Outlook at all.

4. I tried to reconnect as I had done before, letting Outlook find its own settings. No love.

5. I logged on to the server with my browser and clicked the little down arrow next to the help question mark on the mail page and clicked "about." It gave me a whole bunch of information.

6. I went into control panel and tried to manually set up an exchange account. I can't get past the server name. I tried what was on there before. I tried outlook.com. I tried https://outlook.com. I tried live@marshall.edu. I tried some other very ugly looking server names that I had printed off the help screen on the web app.

I'm out of ideas. I'm thinking that either my school has changed something or else it was an update from microsoft, but I don't see any Office 2010 updates in my update history.

Why would my school suddenly change the name of the server and kick everyone off who is using a client? What I want to know is: was there some sort of change in the server name, or is it something else?

The funniest thing about all this is that I have an Apple iPhone, which I don't really like, and it is still synced up just as pretty as you please.

I was able to reconnect to the server using IMAP, SMTP, POP server names, but that only gets the mail. It doesn't do the cool Star Trek sychronization part. Does anyone know what is going on?

How can I delete a user that has a duplicate email address?

While we have been setting up our live@edu service I have managed to create 2 users with the same email address (there were a few strange occurrences, like all the users disappearing and re-appearing), and I cannot find a way to delete either or both of them, I've tried remove-mailbox and I've tried deleting the via the web interface with no success, does anyone have any ideas please?

Where has the Skydrive link gone?

My students are using Outlook Web App (Beta). The Skydrive link has gone. It did move from a direct link at the top of the screen, to being part of the more menu. The more menu has now disappeared along the the skydrive link. It was very useful having the skydrive link as part of the email edu live options.

We are using IE7.

How to Get the folder list for a user's mailbox

I wish to be able to deploy delegate access (folder permissions) right down the folder hierarchy of a users mailbox - From the admin console, not via outlook.

I can see that I can set permissions on any folder for a user by using something of the form

set-mailboxfolderpermission "Surname, Forename:\<Folder Path>" -user <other User> - access <Rights>

What I cannot do is to use

get-mailboxfolder "Surname, Forename:\<Folder Path>" -recurse

to discover the list of folders. This seems like an odd ommission, because if I know the folder name I can set permissions on it, but to successfully set permissions on all folders I need the list of names and yet I cannot retrieve that for any mailbox other than my own?

I could use EWS with impersonation to pul the folder list for the user, but that feels horribly clunky

Am I missing something obvious?

Sorry for using another post as I was getting "Access Denied: Reply Permission Denied" whenever I tried to reply your response by clicking the "Reply" button. Anyway, I was a bit confused that my domain is an Outlook live domain. I was logging on to my University's live@edu domain with the testing account (xxx@mslive.aa.bb.cc) and the Windows live (ordinary live enironment) with the University's live@edu domain admin account (yyy@aa.bb.cc) both via Windows Internet Explorer. I did see any ads in the testing account's Live@edu home web page or elsewhere while I could see ads in the admin account's email home web page. I suppose I should see ads in the Live@edu testing account after I have deprovisioned the offer "HK No Ads" from the account.
